  4.     DIED. Umberto Tirelli, 62, internationally acclaimed
  5. costume designer and costume-maker for movies, theater and
  6. opera; of an undisclosed cause; in Rome. Tirelli, who started
  7. his career as an errand boy in a Milan fabric store, made
  8. costumes for The Leopard, Amadeus, Once upon a Time in America
  9. and The Name of the Rose, as well as for diva Maria Callas in
  10. Luchino Visconti's production of Bellini's Norma. His work has
  11. been exhibited at the Louvre in Paris and at New York City's
  12. Metropolitan Museum of Art.
